Chief Executive Officer
Randy joined HealthSouth of Montgomery as chief executive officer in August of 2017. He has more than 20 years of experience in rehabilitation. Having begun his career as a physical therapist assistant, Randy took on progressively increased leadership roles as he continued his education. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, is a board-certified long-term care administrator and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Randy retired from the United States Naval Reserves in 2011 where he was actively involved in performance improvement initiatives along with readiness training for the members of his medical unit. He earned an associate degree for a physical therapist assistant program from Davenport College, a Bachelor of Science degree in healthcare management from Park University and a master’s degree in business administration from Webster University.
Jeffrey Eng, M.D.
Dr. Jeffrey Eng is a native of New York and moved to Montgomery in 1998 to become the director of traumatic brain injury at HealthSouth. He has held the medical director position since 2001. Dr. Eng completed his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. He also completed an internal medicine internship at Staten Island University Hospital. Dr. Eng is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Jeffery Eng, M.D. is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.
Dr. Felix James Allen
Dr. Allen has more than 25 years’ experience as a practicing internal medicine physician. He completed his medical doctorate at the Medical University of South Carolina and his residency in internal medicine at the University of Alabama Birmingham at Montgomery. He is board certified through the Alabama Board of Internal Medicine. While most of his career entails work in the rehabilitation hospital setting, he has also worked with patients in hospice care and through his internal medicine private practice.

Director of Plant Operations
John has over 35 years of maintenance experience. He served over twenty years in the United States Air Force. He has been in healthcare for the past 15 years. He has worked 10 of those years serving as a facility manager or director of plant operations. He also oversees security and is the safety officer at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Montgomery. He is a member of the Alabama Society for Healthcare Engineers and is a certified healthcare engineer. John has a degree in political science from St. Leo University , an associate's degree in electrical power distribution from the Community College of the Air Force and an associate's degree in electrical technology from John Patterson Technical College.
Director of Marketing Operations
Kim has been employed at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Montgomery since 1989. She received a degree in biology from Tuskegee University and later attended Troy State University's School of Nursing to become a registered nurse. Kim has worked in various positions during her tenure at the hospital but has found that nursing is her passion.
Director of Human Resources
Kim joined the HealthSouth Montgomery team in 2007 with more than 15 years of experience in human resources management. She oversees all areas of human resources, such as recruitment and retention. Kim graduated from Auburn University Montgomery with a bachelor’s degree in human resources.
Director of Pharmacy
Clint joined HealthSouth Montgomery in 2017. He is a graduate of Auburn University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in pharmacy in 1993 and his doctorate degree in pharmacy degree in 1998. Clint has more than 20 years of experience in institutional pharmacy practice and management, including leadership in clinical pharmacy practice, acute care hospital operations, and health system leadership roles.
Director of Case Management
Sharlotte has been employed at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Montgomery since 1992. She has 29 years of nursing experience of which 23 years have been with HealthSouth. She has functioned in the capacity of case manager for 17 years. Sharlotte graduated with a degree in nursing from Wallace College.
Director of Quality and Risk
Carol brings 20 years of nursing experience in emergency department, critical care and quality and risk management to HealthSouth Montgomery. She has a passion for patient safety and quality and is blessed to become part of the HealthSouth family. She is excited about working with the team to make a positive difference for the patients and families that choose HealthSouth for their healthcare needs.
Gretchen Hartnell Vercher
Chief Nursing Officer
Gretchen is a nurse executive with 15 years of progressive health care experience with a focus on facility operations, regulatory compliance, quality and patient safety. She earned an associate degree in nursing from Troy University and bachelor’s degree in nursing from Chamberlain University. Gretchen is a nationally certified neurology nurse and a nurse manager fellow of the American Organization of Nurse Executives. Prior to her position at HealthSouth, Gretchen has held various leadership roles including director of orthopedics and neurology as well as oncology and general surgery.
Director of Therapy Operations
Shirley has worked at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Montgomery since 1989 and has been in management positions for the past 14 years. In addition to her duties as the director of therapy operations, she is lymph edema trained and provides treatments at the hospital on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Shirley graduated from Tuskegee University with a degree in physical therapy. Shirley has lived in Montgomery for the past 25 years.
Thaddeus joins the HealthSouth Montgomery team in November 2017 after serving as controller for HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital North in Memphis for the past three years. He possess more than 15 years of various accounting experience which includes 10 years in healthcare accounting. A native of Birmingham, Ala., Thaddeus began his career with HealthSouth at the corporate office where he served as an outpatient accountant, inpatient accountant and compliance auditor. He then joined the HealthSouth North Memphis team in 2010 as the accounting manager for the Memphis market. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Alabama A&M University.
Dr. Diem Hoang Yeung
Dr. Yeung is a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician who treats patients to improve their function and quality of life through a coordinated care approach after they’ve experienced a debilitating illness or injury. She completed her medical doctorate at the University of Alabama School of Medicine and her physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the University of California in Irvine. She is bilingual in English and Vietnamese.
